Karissa Bettendorf lives in Lincoln, Nebraska, with her husband, little boy, and dog. When she is not painting, she is busy being a mom, gardening, baking, reading, and eating chocolate!

Gina is a first-time author who has used her 21 years of teaching to inspire her ideas and keep her creativity alive. Between teaching special education, elementary education, being a college professor, and a mom and foster mom, the ideas are endless and she cannot wait to put them all on paper!

For the past 12 years and counting, Gina has been a college professor at Peru State College where she primarily teaches elementary reading and math methods, children's literature, and reading interventions. Gina’s hobbies include farm living (that’s a hobby, right?!), camping, crafting, baking, and living vicariously through her children’s endeavors.

Kim Ellis began her writing career under her parents’ coffee table with a red crayon.  At age four she upgraded to the closet door.  Now, as a retired teacher, she is still scribbling away, producing stories that have appeared in Cricket, High Five Magazine for Children, Stinkwaves, and Skipping Stones magazines.  Kim won first prize for children’s poetry in Children’s Writer Newsletter (February 2014). Kim is a teacher consultant with the Hudson Valley Writing Project. She enjoys yoga, quilting, and hanging out with her granddaughters. Tangled in Magic is her first published book.

Nichole Hansen is the author of seven children’s books including the award-winning non-fiction book The Thumb Book of Kindness. She presents poetry and literacy programs across the Midwest to schools, libraries, museums, arts festivals and more.

Nicole is the winner of the 2019 Inspire Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship, which was presented by the Lincoln Journal Star. She lives in Lincoln, Neb with her family.

Tevin Hansen is the multi-award-winning author of more than 20 middle grade books, including Hole in the Wall, Hairytale Adventures, and the Junkyard Adventures series. Francis currently resides in Lincoln, Nebraska after retiring from medical practice claiming to have treated “children of all ages.”

In 2011 he published, “From Presbyterian Hill to Holliday Hill: The Rise and Demise of a Historic Icon.”  He now writes with an emphasis on children’s literature.

Raven Howell writes stories and poetry for children. Having published several award-winning picture books, she enjoys sharing her love of literature by visiting classrooms and libraries. Raven is Creative & Publishing Advisor for Red Clover Reader, Poetry Director for Monster Magnificent, and writes The Book Bug column for Story Monsters Ink magazine. She is a Collaborating Author with Reading is Fundamental. Her poems are found in children’s magazines such as  LadybugSpiderHighlights for Children, Humpty Dumpty, and Hello Magazine.  Raven is inspired by every day enchantment, and she's a big fan of family, laughter, the sea shore, and warm butterscotch chip cookies.

Kelly Kingsley has been drawing since she could hold a writing utensil.  You will find her painting with watercolor, sketching, decorating cookies with royal icing, and painting pet portraits in her free time. Kelly has been an educator for 30 years and counting.  She spent 26 of those years teaching elementary school and is now an assistant professor of education at Peru State College in Nebraska.

Kelly enjoys lake living with her husband, and has two married daughters who are also educators.

A new grandson joined the family this summer, so reading books and babysitting are keeping her busy.

Christine Manno is a university professor, world traveler, and knitter extraordinaire. In her free time, she enjoys long walks on crisp days with her French bulldog, Miss Daizy. Linda and Christine have been friends for over 30 years.

Irene Mathias Author

Author

Irene Mathias has been writing since she could hold a pencil.  She loves to write poetry and stories for children and has had success in local, national and international competition with many of her tales.  

She lives in Scotland with her husband and daughter, who is her biggest fan, and also her biggest critic.   The Short Straw is her first published book.  The Short Straw recently won The New York City Big Book Award!

Philippa is an award winning writer who has for a number of years enjoyed writing short stories and poems for children. Her work as been broadcast on BBC Cbeebies radio, and published in anthologies and magazines around the world.

She has also written a picture book Count the Sheep to Sleep and an audio book retelling of the Story of Noah. When she was at primary school she used to spend her lunch times writing stories but this was put away and forgotten about until much later when her interest was inspired again whilst producing children’s audio books for BBC Children’s radio.

Linda Stephen Author

Linda Stephen is an award-winning paper artist whose artworks are part of public and private collections around the world. Her art is made entirely of paper: layers of Japanese handmade papers and her own invented origami sculptures.

Linda grew up in Michigan playing outdoors in every season and later worked and studied in Japan for six years. She now lives in Lincoln, Nebraska with her family. She made her first origami model, a fortune teller, in fourth grade.

Giulietta M. Spudich enjoys writing everything from children's stories to grown-up fiction and poems in between. She lives in Cambridge, England where she moved from California in 2002. She is inspired by cats, especially her late black cat, Smokey.
